From 2009 to 2013, I had an amazing experience living in a typical American college town, Bloomington, the home of Indiana University, for 4 years. I immersed myself in the American way of education, which has a more creative and open-minded culture and way of thinking.
After graduation I headed to Washington, D.C. on 2014, without any offers, but a strong desire to continue my American experience with a more different approach. Two months later, I started out as a marketing intern at NPR to create tours for visitors in different languages and train with different departments to have better understanding of public broadcasting in America.
Later, I was then promoted to the NPR RAD (Research Archives & Data strategy) marketing specialist to work on social media, exhibit curating and formally hired to help rebrand the team via multiple plartforms like video, photo, graphic design and any future marketing strategies.
I have always considered myself a lucky person despite being a Chinese girl in a professional news world. The old lines between technology, business, news and media organizations are blurring and the interdisciplinary training from Georgetown CCT has led me closer to my dream job.
On My Way
Say YES to myself, stay true to myself and never give up --- this is what I believed.
